We believe it's important to LIVE in a community, not just work there.  By staying active in the community--and supporting important causes--we learn things about others that would otherwise be all too easy to overlook. That helps us deliver the best real estate experience for our clients and keep our knowledge of Edina homes for sale up to date.

One of the causes our team is passionate about is finding a cure for cancer. We understand the pain and heartache of this devastating disease and support those battling it, their families, physicians, and medical personnel by providing information about the 2018 Twin Cities Race for the Cure happening on May 13, 2018 -- Mother's Day.

Twin Cities Race for the Cure on May 13

About one in eight American women will develop breast cancer at some point in life.

About 266,000 new cases of breast cancer are diagnosed in women every year. Breast cancer death rates are the second-highest of any cancer for U.S. women, and women with specific genetic profiles face a risk anywhere from 45 to 65 percent.

Too many women have lost their lives, so Twin Cities Race for the Cure is essential.

Race for the Cure is an initiative of the Susan G. Komen foundation. This nonprofit was formed 36 years ago: In that time, it has raised hundreds of millions of dollars for the latest research aimed at finally finding a cure for cancer.

Race for the Cure is Your Chance to Be Part of Change for a Cancer-Free World

Race for the Cure is a major fundraising initiative that takes place every year in cities nationwide, and the Twin Cities Race for the Cure is one of the biggest events.

Mother's Day, May 13, 2018, will see the 26th yearly Twin Cities Race for the Cure. If past years are any indication, it'll attract thousands of participants.

The Race experience lasts all day long and kicks off at 6:30 AM with registration. Before the official start time, you have the chance to participate in an aerobic warm-up.

At 7:25 AM, the action starts with the 5K Women's and Men's Wheelchair Race. At 7:30 AM, the 5K Women and Men's Combined Run also takes place. Until 10:00 AM, a Health Expo offering free educational resources on breast cancer and related topics will be available.

At 8:15 AM, the Survivor Celebration and Photo will commemorate the success of women of all ages and backgrounds who've won the fight against cancer.

No matter whether you're participating in the 1K or the 5K Walk, they start promptly at 9:15 AM. The 1K Walk is a great outing for all ages, while the 5K Walk offers a longer, non-competitive journey around beautiful Lake Cornelia. The total distance is 3.1 miles.

Those who are in the mood for a timed race will find a neat challenge waiting for them as well. The 5K Run offers timed placements for the top five men, women, and cancer survivor participants. It uses a similar route to the untimed 5K Walk.

One of the most enjoyable parts of any Race for the Cure is walking with your own team. It can be family members, coworkers, or any other group! Team registration is available until May 1st, while individual registration will end on the 8th.

Even if you don't have the chance to join Race for the Cure, you can still be part of the solution. Donations are accepted online and provide necessary community services such as mammograms.
