1. St. Paul Home and Landscape Show, Saint Paul River Centre, Saint Paul
   The St. Paul Home and Landscape Show runs February 15 through 17, offers four backyard getaway scenes by four different landscapers, guest speaker John Gidding of "Trading Spaces," make-it and take-it workshops, and more. Buy tickets online to shave $2 off admission, and be sure to check out the "Trade Secrets" presentation full of expert advice on plumbing, roofing, tiling, and landscaping. 
   
   You can shop for landscaping, garden, and outdoor items at the show, too, with vendors offering the latest, most popular products. No babysitter? That's okay — the show features a Kidzone play area. 
   
   Many people do not realize that real estate agents enjoy visiting these shows, too, so they can offer timely suggestions to their clients on how a home can be transformed, personalized, or upgraded with modern technology. 
   
   
2. Lake Home & Cabin Show, at the Minneapolis Convention Center in Minneapolis
   You could have a very busy weekend if you take in not only the St. Paul show but the Lake Home & Cabin Show, also February 15 through 17. Of course, this show is meant primarily for your vacation home, that beautiful cabin in the woods or by the lake. 
   
   Here you will find more rustic creations, great tips on minimizing lakeside landscaping maintenance, and opportunities to view sporting equipment. This show is exclusively for owners of second homes or OPCs (those who want to cultivate friendships so they can get invited to other people's cabins).

3. Minneapolis Home and Garden Show, held at the Minneapolis Convention Center, in Minneapolis
   On two weekends, February 22 through 24 and March 1 through 3, the Minneapolis Home & Garden Show is your last chance to be an "early bloomer" before spring arrives. You can see Drew and Jonathan Scott of HGTV's "Property Brothers," get professional (free) advice from local designers and landscapers, and see how seven local landscapers transform space using the theme of lakeside gardens. 
   
   This home show promises to be bigger and better than ever before, with many special touches:
   
   • Koehler & Dramm Institute of Floristry on-site workshops
   • Glamping (glamour camping with fixtures like a sauna tent)
   • Deck Wars — Five local decking contractors compete, but you are the winner every time
   • Sheds for Her, Sheds for Him
   
   The Minneapolis Home Show also gives the nod to environmental consciousness, through upcycling challenges that repurpose old items for innovative garden decorations. Show-goers will also be able to buy plants at the Sunday plant sale, starting at 5 p.m. on March 3. That is just 17 days away from the arrival of spring, 2019 and the official start of home improvement season!
