Scenic Destinations - Twin Cities - Counselor Realty

Minnesota is proudly known as "Land of 10,000 Lakes," and there are certainly multiple bodies of water near Minneapolis homes for saleBut lakes are only part of the beautiful scenery that makes St. Paul homes for sale so desirable. Every day's a vacation when you visit these amazing spots around the Twin Cities.

  1. Lake Nokomis Park - 4955 W. Lake Nokomis Pkwy., Minneapolis, MN 55417
Named for Hiawatha's grandmother in Longfellow's epic poem, Lake Nokomis Park is visual poetry. The 204-acre lake and its surroundings provide a peaceful oasis rarely found in an urban setting. Enjoy the view while you drive around the lake, or stroll the 2.7-mile pedestrian trail that circles the perimeter with your leashed dog. Watch for colorful butterflies at the four-acre Nokomis Naturescape Garden and its landscape of native grasses and wildflowers. Park hours are 6 a.m. - midnight daily. The garden is open 7:30 a.m. - 10 p.m.

  2. Minnehaha Regional Park - 4801 S. Minnehaha Dr., Minneapolis, MN 55417
Waterfalls are one of the more breathtaking sights in nature. In honor of the spectacular 53-foot cascade that forms the main attraction, Minnehaha Regional Park is named for the Dakota term meaning "waterfall." Even in winter, the frozen waters form stunning ice sculptures that shouldn't be missed. The park also features a lush garden with a charming pergola centerpiece. Minnehaha Regional Park is open seven days a week from 6 a.m. - midnight, while garden hours are 7:30 a.m. - 10 p.m.

  3. Chain of Lakes Regional Park - 2000 Upton Ave. S., Minneapolis, MN 55405
If one lake is good, five equals heaven. It's no surprise that Chain of Lakes Regional Park is the most popular facility in the Minneapolis park system. The 1,555-acre grounds encompass Brownie Lake, Cedar Lake, Lake of the Isles, Bde Maka Ska (once known as Lake Calhoun) and Lake Harriet. With nearly 15 miles of pedestrian trails, you can get a different perspective on each visit. Hours are 6 a.m. - midnight daily, while the bird sanctuary is open 7:30 a.m. - 10 p.m.

  4. Minneapolis Sculpture Garden - 725 Vineland Pl., Minneapolis, MN 55403
Culture doesn't have to be saved for a rainy day. The Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, located outside the Walker Art Center, includes dozens of whimsical, dramatic and thought-provoking works of art. In addition to the iconic Spoonbridge and Cherry by Claes Oldenburg, the garden has sculptures from noted artists Alexander Calder, Roy Lichtenstein and Louise Nevelson on display. Local artists Ta-coumba T. Aiken and Seitu Jones are the contributors of the latest installment, called Shadows at the Crossroads. Hours are 6 a.m. - midnight year-round.

  5. Fort Snelling State Park - 101 Snelling Lake Rd., St. Paul, MN 55111
Today Fort Snelling State Park is a place for recreation and sightseeing, but it was originally an actual fort constructed to oversee exploration and trade at the strategic junction where the Minnesota and Mississippi Rivers meet. The 18 miles of easy to moderate hiking trails offer great opportunities for spotting white-tailed deer, foxes, woodchucks, and other wildlife. Bring Fido along on a leash and pack a picnic lunch. Fort Snelling State Park is open seven days a week between 8 a.m. - 10 p.m.

The Twin Cities are a delight during any season of the year. Call today for friendly and professional help with all your real estate needs.
