Farm-to-table has been one of the hottest trends in dining over the last few years. Able Brewery puts the same emphasis on sustainability with their craft beers. Located in the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District, Able Brewery partners with Minnesota farmers and vendors to create brews such as Honey Cream Ale, sweetened with local honey, and On the Fritz, a collaboration with Misfit Coffee. Bauhaus Brew Labs is a far cry from your high school chemistry classroom. Their creative team combines art and science to produce playful takes on classic German-inspired beer. The family-friendly taproom also gets a whimsical look from graphic wall art and seating in bright primary colors. Well-behaved kids and dogs are welcome indoors as well as on the patio. Animales Barbeque Co. is on hand selling their delicious food, or feel free to BYO eats from one of the neighboring restaurants. Neither rain nor snow nor sleet nor hail will keep the folks at Bad Weather Brewing Company from turning out some of the best craft beer in town. The brewery literally began on a dark and stormy night in 2013, when owners Zac and Joe decided to team up and pursue their shared passion for craft beer. They keep things fresh by regularly rotating the selection, featuring styles such as Golden Bramble, a pineapple wheat ale. Bring Fido and the kids along. They have water for the pups and free arcade games for the little ones. Immerse yourself in Twin Cities history with a visit to Waldmann Brewery & Wurstery. Constructed in 1857 as a lager beer saloon, Waldmann is housed in the oldest commercial building in St. Paul. In 2015, the building was designated as a Heritage Preservation Site, which allowed resumption of its original purpose despite being located in a residential area. Locally-made wurst sausages, spaetzle, and pretzels are the perfect accompaniments to the German-influenced lagers. Dane and Thom, the eponymous Burning Brothers, didn't let Dane's diagnosis of celiac disease derail their plans for a brewery. Instead, they set to work and developed recipes for gluten-free beers that have all the taste but none of the grains. Pyro, their flagship brew, is a twist on a traditional English bitter, featuring notes of orange and grapefruit. Taproom hours are 4 - 10 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 1 - 10 p.m. Saturday.
