It's Saturday, and the kids are bored. You could take them to a movie, but wouldn't you rather find something educational for them to do? Someplace they can have fun but also stimulate their minds? If learning about the history and process of making flour doesn't sound exciting, then you've never been to Mill City Museum. Built on the ruins of the Washburn A Mill, you'll experience firsthand the early history of the company that would one day give birth to General Mills, Gold Medal Flour, and Betty Crocker. The Flour Tower takes you back in time to the 1880s to see the machinery in action and hear the stories of the workers of that era. The Water Lab demonstrates how the mill was powered, teaching the principles that generate electricity. And the Baking Lab shows how different types of flour are used to bake everything from cookies to bread—then lets you taste the delicious results!
