Where Kids Can Play and Learn in the Twin Cities | Counselor Realty

It's Saturday, and the kids are bored. You could take them to a movie, but wouldn't you rather find something educational for them to do? Someplace they can have fun but also stimulate their minds? And most importantly, someplace you can enjoy as well? There are plenty of places near St. Paul homes for sale and Minneapolis homes for sale where kids can play and learn and adults can have fun, too. Here are some of our favorites.

  • Science Museum of Minnesota - 120 W Kellogg Blvd., St. Paul, MN 55102
From fossils to outer space to the human body, the Science Museum of Minnesota makes scientific knowledge come alive. Experience questionable medical devices in their Weighing the Evidence exhibit and see firsthand why science says they don't work. Make anything from an electric circuit to a tornado in the Experiment Gallery. And don't miss Museum Nights for live, interactive demonstrations every Friday from 5-8 p.m.

  • Como Park Zoo & Conservatory - 1225 Estabrook Drive, St. Paul, MN 55103
There's no better place to experience the wonders of the animal kingdom than Como Park Zoo & Conservatory. But it's also much more than that. The zoo has an array of animals, from giraffes and flamingos to lemurs and tamarins, in their natural habitats. At the Conservatory, you can experience some of the most beautiful gardens in the Twin Cities. From the Fern Room to the Bonsai Collection to the butterfly-filled Enchanted Garden, you can visit over a dozen different gardens and learn about the unique plant and animal life in each. They also have fun events, such as talks from their zookeepers and gardeners, children's storytime, and a water show featuring Sparky, their trained sea lion.

  • Minnesota Children's Museum - 10 7th St. W, St. Paul, MN 55102
The Minnesota Children's Museum is a place where kids can explore and imagine in all different ways. For younger children, there's Imaginopolis, where they can visit a squirrel's house and see oversized plants and animals. For older kids, there's Shipwreck Adventures, featuring a climbing wall and laser maze on the hull of a giant ship. And don't forget Our World, with a fire station, post office, vet clinic, and farmer's market, where kids of all ages can act out roles and create their own stories.

  • Mill City Museum - 704 S. 2nd St., Minneapolis, MN 55401
If learning about the history and process of making flour doesn't sound exciting, then you've never been to Mill City Museum. Built on the ruins of the Washburn A Mill, you'll experience firsthand the early history of the company that would one day give birth to General Mills, Gold Medal Flour, and Betty Crocker. The Flour Tower takes you back in time to the 1880s to see the machinery in action and hear the stories of the workers of that era. The Water Lab demonstrates how the mill was powered, teaching the principles that generate electricity. And the Baking Lab shows how different types of flour are used to bake everything from cookies to bread—then lets you taste the delicious results!

  • Minnesota History Center - 345 W. Kellogg Blvd, St. Paul, MN 55102
The Twin Cities have a long, rich history, and at the Minnesota History Center, you can see it come alive. Hear the stories of Minnesota's Native communities, see silent film clips at a Vaudeville theater, climb through the chutes of a model grain elevator, and much more!

This is just a taste of what you can do, see, and learn in the Twin Cities at any age. Call today to find your dream home in Minneapolis or St. Paul!
