Peaceful Lake Escapes Without the Crowds Near the Twin Cities | Counselor Realty

After a long day of looking at Minneapolis homes for sale and St. Paul homes for sale, there's nothing better than relaxing on the lake. This is a routine we're familiar with in the Twin Cities. Some of us fish, others paddle, and some love simply sitting on the shore and admiring the water. If you're looking to enjoy the lakefront vibe without the crowds, here are some quiet lakes we suggest visiting.

  • Lake Harriet Park - 4135 W. Lake Harriet Parkway, Minneapolis, MN 55409
    Lake Harriet Park
is a lovely one to visit if you like sandy beaches. The park features two beaches: North Beach and Southeast Beach. Paddle boards, kayaks, and canoes are available for rental, or you can bring your own and launch from the boat dock. Lake Harriet Park also features a lovely bike path that weaves through it. There's a playground for the kids, along with public restroom facilities. You can even enjoy a meal at Bread & Pickle, a casual eatery at the pavilion.

  • Lake Elmo Reserve - 1515 Keats Ave. N, Lake Elmo, MN, 55042
Lake Elmo Reserve is about 15 minutes east of St. Paul and well worth the drive. This park spans more than 2,100 acres along the shores of Lake Elmo. The swimming area is open through Labor Day, and there are lifeguards on duty. Lake Elmo Reserve also has a fishing pier and a boat launch. If you'd rather go for a walk, there are turf and paved trails to choose from.

  • Casey Lake Park - 2101 17th Ave. E, North St. Paul, MN 55109
    Casey Lake Park
is located on the shore of one of the smaller lakes in the Twin Cities. But there's still plenty to do at this quiet, 33-acre park. The park was recently renovated, and the picnic shelter is a lovely place to share a meal, even on a rainy day. Casey Lake Park has some beautiful wooded areas along the waterfront. The walking trails meander through them. The park also features a hockey rink and three baseball diamonds, where local teams frequently play.

  • Lake Nokomis Park - 4955 W. Lake Nokomis Parkway, Minneapolis, MN 55417
With two beaches and two fishing piers, Lake Nokomis Park is the perfect place to spend some quiet time on the water. This park also has a canoe and paddleboard rental shop on-site, and the lake's water quality is closely monitored by the MPRB. Lake Nokomis Park is a great place to have a picnic or a casual party. There are several covered pavilions, a grilling area, and a playground for little kids. The park also has some public art on display, and there's a Little Free Library where you can borrow or leave a book.

  • Bde Maka Ska Park - 3000 E. Bde Maka Ska Parkway, Minneapolis, MN 55408
Bde Maka Ska is known for its smooth, clear waters. This park, located on the shores of the lake, has three beaches where you can do everything from swimming to fishing. There is a dedicated fishing pier, and anglers seem to make some big catches here! Bde Maka Ska Park also has a walking path and sand volleyball courts. There are soccer fields where local teams play, but they're also often open for pickup games. The biking path is also smooth and well-maintained.

We hope you get to enjoy some time on or around the water this summer. After all, it's one of the best things about living in the Twin Cities. Call today if you're looking for a home in the area. We'd love to help.
